The
melding of minds that is MOSAIC occurs in front of an actual 18-tile
mosaic -- a collection of recipes, journal
entries, newspaper clippings, photographs blank spaces and more that visually
reflect the essence of the show. As the show progresses, the
mosaic is revealed. Written donations and the ideas they inspire
fill in the blank spaces
during the show; so the audience gets to add to the mosaic.

FEBRUARY 19 - APRIL 30, 2006
SUNDAYS,
9:30 at IMPROVBOSTON
$7/$5
To accomplish a high level of
audience-performer interaction, the SouthCity Theatre Ensemble invites
its audience to bring "written donations" to the show. Written
donations are any piece of writing that can be donated (forever!) to
the ensemble and used as inspiration during the show. Tickets are
$7 general admission, but audience members who bring written donations
get $2 off, or a $5 ticket. Cheap!
By
the time the show and mosaic are complete, the audience has
witnessed (and taken part in) a funny, smart and thought- provoking
evening unlike anything else happening in the Boston entertainment
scene. And the show changes regularly. As quickly as
the ensemble can develop pieces (which is often weekly), new pieces are
added to the show. So MOSAIC is never exactly the same from one
night to the next.
MOSAIC mixes fifteen
very short, playful, intimate theatrical pieces --
from swipes at major political issues to simple reflection
on everyday trivialities -- with three
entirely improvised scenes based on audience
contributions. The result: a
living picture of today from the political to the improper,
social
satire to personal tragedy, the scripted to the improvised.
