Improvise!
While we are not known for doing short, Whose Line is it, Anyway type
shows, we can provide your
function with one of our "10 Scenes About . . ." or improv
"jams." You give us the topic, the person's life, whatever you
want our "source" to be -- and we use it to provide a series of
improvised scenes to turn that source into a theatrical (and generally
comic) event. While we can't guarantee exactly what will happen in those
scenes, we can guarantee
plenty of fun and entertainment. This is the best show we can
offer for those seeking simple, comic entertainment without a specific
"goal" for the show.

Want to know exactly what you're getting
instead? We don't blame you. You've come to the right
place! The SouthCity Theatre Ensemble has a library of
over fifty smart and entertaining
written pieces that can be arranged in any number of ways. Our
pieces run the gamut from politics to social satire to plain old
self-expression. Everything we do is oriented around self and
social awareness. Need a show with political punch or just
something about love in the 21st century? We can
virtually guarantee we already have the material written, ready and
rehearsed to provide just the show you need! You can read some of
our material by going back to the ensemble page or clicking
here.
Want something even more
specific? Given time and information, the ensemble can write and
perform a show for
you!
Need to target sexism in a fifteen minute theatrical set?
Want a show about homelessness? We can do either and much
more. Even if we haven't already written about a subject, we're
often available and interested in writing toward a topic by
request.
Not
only that, our shows have a reputation for combining comedy with a keen
sense of seriousness that allows us to tackle difficult issues in a
playful, provocative and enjoyable way. Most recently, the
ensemble successfully wrote and performed a fifteen minute show for the
Hildebrand, a local non-profit dedicated to helping those in need find
adequate housing. The show was received as both entertaining and
informative and was widely lauded among attendees.
